A "Roxo" for Roxojax Just a re-scale on this one in Amber Swirl acrylic with a Black wedge we went with triple Brass pins on this with a hidden surprise on the center pin.. the Razor is an heirloom and was in fantastic shape just a light hand polishing...

This is the first Hollow Grind I have worked on from this company so I am rather looking forward to the test shave from it... thinking maybe the Charnely Forest for the finisher

Nice job on those scales G-man ,dont remember ever seeing that style coming out of your camp, but then again i could have missed it. But i like!!!!

Nice choice with the acrylic, the color is beautiful. Nice slick lines on the scales too. I like it.

A loaded question :) but many are in this hobby..
I, do not rest blades on the 3rd pin spacers, nor have I ever seen a Vintage razor in good shape use them as a tang rest...

The one thing that you really need to be careful of when building scales with the 3rd pin is not creating a stress point in the scales by either pushing the scales out to much, or sucking them in to much :(

You would have to go quite a bit back in time to find a set, but I have used that reversed Spanish point look for the wedge in the past, Roxojax found a set I had built like that and linked it to me for the design... :)

Glen, the reason I ask is that I have been given a razor to rescale, which has a third pin, and the tang sits on the third pin spacer. The blade width is smaller than the tang also, really big, chunky tang.

However when I show it to Connor he's going to be champing at the bit for the custom scales that he wants for his 8/8 Friodur!! He's saved his summer wages and really wants you to make him a custom set!!

Glen, move this post if you need to. Here are a couple of pics of the razor. You can just make out from the pic that the blade is thinner than the tang. The blade looks as though it used be a much larger blade 8/8 or 7/8 maybe and has been ground or worn down.

The pivot was really lose and I think that the third pin may have been an 'after market' add on. On side is a flat-head screw with a brass nut on the other side.

Yes I would agree with your assessment Stu, this was a larger blade (#14 = 8/8 most times) in the beginning, and most likely the 3rd pin was Jury Rigged in there for the special purpose of keeping the razor from falling through.. You could check that out and see... My first thought is that since you are building custom scales for it you can also custom fit them... You might not even need the 3rd pin.. Also that spacer they used is huge !!!!... I would try building the scales with no 3rd pin planned, then you can add it after for function if needed, or for your pleasure if wanted.
